About Me
I'm Laura Hayes. Storyteller, rural dweller, writer, singer, and the person at the kitchen table asking too many questions, then quietly taking it all in.
I've been collecting stories my whole life. As a journalist I had a microphone and a deadline. Now, I have something I didn't recognize back then; the deep and unshakeable belief that the stories of ordinary lives are the most important ones we can tell. Especially now.
I believe you have stories worth telling. About your life, your childhood, your family, your business, or the things you've built. You may not know which moments matter, how they fit together, or how to put them into words. That's where I come in.
I listen for the story underneath the story. I ask questions. I notice the details. I help you shape what you've lived into a story that's meaningful, memorable and worth sharing.
I have decades of writing, storytelling and video production experience. I studied Broadcast Journalism in college and then I worked in television news. After moving back to rural Saskatchewan to raise a family, I started a video production business so I could tell the stories of people in these rural areas. My work has taken me from storefronts to bull pens and boardrooms. I understand rural lifestyles and businesses because that's who I am too.
